Introduction of FGEIs

The Federal Government Educational Institutions, FGEIs were previously known as the Cantonment Board Educational Institutions. The FGEls were rebranded after the control and management of these institutions were transferred to GHQ in September 1977. The FGEI(C/G) Directorate is an attached department of Federal Ministry of Defence and has a dual responsibility to deal, on the one hand, with the GHQ and Military Formations, on the other hand, with the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The Regional offices are located at Lahore, Rawalpindi, Chaklala, Peshawar, Wah, Kharian, Multan, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Karachi, Fazaia and Quetta.

Introduction of College

FG Degree College, Lahore Cantt, was established under the administrative control of FGEI (Cantts/Garrison) Directorate in 1987. In 1988 it started working as an intermediate college for boys in affiliation with the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad. The courses of studies offered to students were Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, General Science and Humanities.
The college embarked upon a new phase of development in 1993 when co-education was introduced. Another milestone in the history of college came in 1999, when it was elevated to the status of a degree college and was affiliated with the Punjab University, Lahore. In Liaison with HEC & PERN

In 2022, the college was the first among FG Colleges and one among the elite group of 39 colleges in Punjab that were shortlisted to liaise with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) under its project of Pakistan Education & Research Network (PERN). Later the FGEIs Directorate signed an MoU with the HEC and PERN; consequently, all the FG Colleges offering BS Programs were connected with the project in close liaison with the HEC. The college now boasts an HEC-facilitated high-tech research & conference room powered by PERN and HEC with interactive LED, video conferencing, a sound system, and licensed access to Microsoft, Turnitin, and Coursera. The college now provides the unique opportunity for its BS students to register for courses offered by international universities on the platform of Coursera. The college is now on track to provide an international standard education and research culture along with skill development.

National University of Pakistan

FGEIs has established its own university, the National University of Pakistan, with the aim of establishing its sub campuses in all provinces, including a sub campus at FG Degree College Lahore. The FGEIs look forward to providing quality higher education to all and sundry at an affordable price through the length and breadth of Pakistan. FGEls aim to achieve hundred percent literacy in Pakistan and build a progressive and peaceful society that can play its role by contributing to global sustainable development.
